Mr. Vladimir, we have just celebrated the 90th anniversary of Slutsk uprising. What do you think, do not exaggerate the significance of this uprising for independence of Belarus? Or has already been said about it the whole truth? Perhaps there are some other interesting facts?
I am sure that readers and listeners of Radio Liberty does not need to explain what it is about. I can only say that the month of armed struggle 10000 Sluchak flagged BNR against the regular units of the Red Army — the strongest of a series of kontrargumentav in a dispute with those who are with almost pathological persistence reiterates that in the late twentieth century, the independence of the Belarusians fell somewhere in the sky, that Belarusians did not fight for it, do not suffer, and therefore still do not know what to do with it. One recent example of such a "stubborn", which is based at best on ignorance of its history — recent, spectacular on the outside, but in fact, diplomatically speaking, irrelevant speech at the opening of the Minsk Belarusian-German forum Mr. Paul Daneyko. In some it caused confusion, the other — resentment, and some meaningful look with a neighbor. Like, what did I tell you: they admit that their independence — not more than incident.
In its own way, "commended" the importance of the Slutsky uprising Soviet power. Almost all of its members, who managed to reach the bloody hands of the OGPU — NKVD, were physically destroyed. At the direction of Moscow guerrillas continued liquidation Sluchak and those who were influenced by them, and during the German occupation.
"The people's avengers" with the 2nd Brigade of the Minsk (commander Sergei Ivanov) in April 1943 heroically shot around RUDENSKY Belarusian teachers Nikifora Metelsky. He was accused of having links with listapadavtsami — members of the anti-Bolshevik underground organization established in 1920 Jurk November. The life of the former rebel bullet in November executioner with a red star on his cap broke off in 1938 in the Siberian Bamlyagu.
The truth about Slutsky rank, in fact, just returned after a decade of silence. These facts in the minds of our fellow citizens (even those who are fond of courage Sluchak) still coexist with myths. Had to meet, say, the idea that Sluchak supported Poland. In fact, its troops moved away from what was then the boundaries to give the Bolsheviks the opportunity to press the armed struggle of Belarusian independence supporters and subservient to the Polish spaces.
A couple more examples of inappropriate notions of truth rebels.
In some publications, the heroes fight the Bolsheviks set off the first commander of the 1st Regiment, Captain Paul Slutsky Seagull. Meanwhile left evidence that he tried to pass on the Soviet side of the package with classified documents, for which he was arrested but managed to escape to the already busy "advice" Sluck. Short life Gulls conceals a secret, for a month, "three" special department of the 16th Army captain was sentenced to death for treason is Soviet power.
Among the participants in the uprising encyclopedia called senior officer Belorussian Military Commission Makar Kravtsov. However, historians have found out that the author of the hymn "We will leave dense rows" in the ranks of the insurgents was not for the reasons, so to speak, personal. (However, other merit Kravtsov had to in 1939, the Soviet "liberators" tortured him during interrogation in Bialystok prison.)
At all — if we talk about the human destiny — in such situations and in times like these sublime always close to the ground, and the low, the heroism pulsing close to treason, and the tragic and the comic turns in reverse.
Those who intend to thoroughly grasp the history of those events, I want to first of all consult the book "Slutskoe armed uprising in 1920 in the documents and memoirs" (2nd revised edition, Mn., 2006), a sub-Lyakhovsky Vladimir, Vladimir and Alexander Mikhnyuk Ges . And also — the study of Nina Stuzhinskaya "Belarus rebel: the history of armed anti-Soviet resistance. 20th years of the twentieth century." About to come out of its new edition, and the first thing that appeared in 2000, the Belarusian PEN-center celebrated prize named after Francis Bogushevich.
There will, of course, is open and new, hitherto unknown pages of the struggle that went to die, to live the Motherland. It seems the hand of historians from Belarus have not yet dealt with the funds of the Polish military archive. Meanwhile defenzyva carefully monitored all the vicissitudes of our commitment to independence.
I believe that on November 27 — the day in 1920 Slutsk rebels first attacked the Red Army units — will be called the Day of the heroes in the official Belarusian calendars. A friend of the President our country Council issued a decree that this day — not just a holiday but a day off.
I wonder what Sluchak drank to victory?
And is it, in Hamburg run, they did not win?
