A home for seal pups opened in Leningrad region

Lose baby seals will be held in a special veterinary rehabilitation center, which opened in Vsevolozhsk district of Leningrad region, reports Rosprirodnadzor.

"In 2008, an international conference in Leningrad Zoo has developed a common program of action ecologists, zoologists, veterinarians, the public and decided to set up a rehabilitation center for rescue pups," — said in a statement.

Veterinary Center was opened in the village Rappolovo Vsevolozhsk district of Leningrad region. In addition, the center can be used as a premise for the content of various animals in quarantine in accordance with the requirements of the veterinary control.

As the environmentalists, the need for a rehabilitation center seal area reduction occurred because of ice in the Gulf of Finland and the early melting. Pups are on the shore and die without parental care.

"For a lost seal now has space to hold and then release them into the natural aquatic environment," — noted RPN employees of the Department of the North-West Federal District.
