On the international aerospace exhibition FIDAE-2012 in Santiago (Chile), an Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) presented its own new armored car RAM Mk III 'AT' (Anti-Tank), created to destroy enemy armored vehicles.
Brand new vehicle configuration was based on the model adopted by the arms and light armored vehicle with high cross-RAM Mk III, designed and made RAMTA, division of IAI.
The configuration of RAM Mk III 'AT' was developed after painstaking research experience of fighting and field trials.
"A massive combination of superior maneuverability and firepower allows mobile fighting forces to reincarnate hard walkable area to its tactical advantage by summing the merits of these 2-tested means of combat to defeat the enemy's armored vehicles in the independence, wherever it was," — said the representative of RAMTA.
Armored RAM has experience fighting the introduction of a more than 10-ke military, paramilitary and police forces in Asia, Latin America and Africa, and also in the implementation of peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) in the world. In the middle of the last buyers RAM are the security forces of Vietnam, the Republic of Gabon, Chad and Cameroon.
The construction and protection
The design of RAM Mk 3 was based on carrier AT armored capsule. One hundred percent of the troop compartment closed except for the driver accommodates up to eight people. It has two doors on each side for entry and exit, as the two top flap for the shooting. Huge bulletproof windows provide a good front driver's view, there are also the smallest window on each side. The crew has the ability to conduct fire in all directions. RAM Mk3 AT equip ballistic armor protection against mines and fire-resistant barrier that separates the engine compartment and the fuel tank from the crew compartment. Car has a small silhouette and relatively low weight, providing a higher survivability on the battlefield and more than easy transportability along the ground or through the air. RAM armored vehicle includes an integrated underbody protection against explosions and radial ballistic protection provided by the middle of the rest of the introduction of a form of diamond-shaped surfaces to repel the blast and protection from bullets caliber 7.62 and 12.7 mm. The car is offered to customers in 2-versions of ballistic protection and over 20 configurations for personal requirements.
As a primary weapon system RAM Mk III AT equip pull quadruply anti-tank missile launcher complex Nimrod-SR (Short-Range) with a semi-active laser guidance system. Nimrod-SR (the title of a new advertising-known complex LAHAT) developed MBT Missiles, another division of IAI. The missile can be induced on a target with both armored RAM-AT, and with the external pointer, whether it's a helicopter, UAVs, advanced observation post, etc. NIMROD SR missile has a range of up to 8 km from the platform when running RAM-AT hitting the target in the upper hemisphere.
As an added weapon car is equipped with machine guns, 5.56 mm or 7.62 mm.
Car RAM based on a wheeled chassis 4×4. Equip the engine with air cooling of Deutz power to 189 hp at 2500 revolutions per minute, which proved to be highly reliable in continuous use in extreme field criteria. The specific capacity of the car is 26.7 hp per ton of weight.
The winch is mounted on the front bumper of the car and the spare wheel is in its rear part.
