July 6. Lake Park in the town Merden Guelph-Eramosa was surrounded after dead fish were found on the shore on Monday, reports guelphmercury.com
By Wednesday morning the flies swarmed rotting fish floating on its side at the shoreline. Nearby was also found one dead bird.
Authorities erected a temporary fence around the perimeter of the lake, as well as signs warning about the danger of swimming in the water and use the water from it.
"At the moment we do not know the causes of the incident," — said Janice Sheppard, spokesman for the Guelph-Eramosa.
She added that samples of dead fish were sent to a local university for examination.
