In Moscow, opened the first exhibition of Russian books

A unique exhibition of manuscripts and early printed books opened in Moscow in state literary museum. Since all of the first books were Christian, its exhibits are only church literature.

 Of particular interest, according to organizers, will attract handwritten Gospel in 1464 and a collection of the Lives and Teachings end of the XV century. Prints will be exhibited Russian artists and works of Greek masters of the temple of the Holy Sepulchre / Edicule / in Jerusalem and view Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos.

You can also see lists of the museum's collection of popular print / folk images /. This type of graphics is known in Russia since the second half of the XVII century. Born in the late Middle Ages, a splint in an accessible form revealed to the faithful religious subjects. Among the exhibits — rare types of splints with Russian monasteries and temples, images of saints with scenes of their lives — Sergius of Radonezh, Elijah the Prophet, St. Barbara.

The exhibition is timed to the anniversary of the first appearance in the Russian printed book "The Apostle." She has published on the printed circuit court of Ivan Fyodorov April 19, 1563 on March 1, 1564, ITAR-TASS reported.
