Weather in Old New Year in Russia will be close to normal

 Weather in most parts of Russia in the next five days will be close to normal, strong cold expected in the Urals, told the director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.

According to him, the weather in early 2013 in the European part of Russia was by 2-4 degrees above normal, the Asian — much lower, sometimes by 8-9 degrees.

"(January 12-16), much of European and Asian conditionally designated in blue, the temperature is near or below normal, and only the southern regions of European Russia are colored brown and red (temperature above the norm — Ed.)" — Said Vilfand.

According to him, especially in the cold weather during the coming five-day forecast in the Urals, where negative deviations from normal temperatures can reach 10 degrees.

"This is Zatoka cold air from the Kara Sea in the region," — said the head meteorologist.

Vilfand said that in European Russia meteorologists expect a uniform and "classic" winter weather with an average temperature of about minus 10 degrees, which corresponds to the climate norm. So, 12-15 January night temperature of 12 to 17 degrees below zero at night, around minus 10 degrees, while in some regions may be "episodes" with cooling to minus 22 degrees.

"In the Night (Old) New Year … clouds, sunny, the temperature at night in Moscow minus 12-14, minus 10-12 degrees during the day, with clearings at night to minus 22, wind north and north-west 3.8 meters per second, on icy roads in some places, "- said Vilfand.
