At the base of railcar manufacturing URALVAGONZAVOD in Latvia put the first stone

Government officials and Russia and Latvia, as well as the corporation's management and Uralvagonzavod «UVZ Baltija» walled symbolic capsule with a message to future generations, and marked the beginning of construction in Jelgava Carriage Works.

"This plant is more than new production. It symbolizes rebirth in Latvia whole machinery industry — production of freight cars. It is a testament to the successful synergy between technological competence "Uralvagonzavod" and Jelgava tradition of engineering production, "- said in a message to future generations, signed by the above officials.

It is planned that after 12-15 months on the territory of the former Jelgava sugar factory will be completed Railcar «UVZ Baltija», designed by the Latvian office. Originally the factory «UVZ Baltija» will create about 200 jobs. In general, «UVZ Baltija» plans to invest 20 million euro project, which include as costs of construction and acquisition of equipment and technology.

The purpose of investing is to create a modern production assembly of various types of freight cars — platforms, tanks, hopper grain cars and a covered wagon up to 21 meters, able to ensure the production of quality products.

«UVZ Baltija» received the necessary certificates on the impact on the environment and gave sketches of the project to the responsible authorities, so that in the middle of June will receive a building permit, so you can start the zero cycle of construction.

For the construction of the plant and sidings company plans to announce an international competition. At full capacity, car-building plant will start operating in early 2015. It will produce rail cars, as well as carry out repairs and maintenance. On the production is planned to build two thousand different freight cars per year and reach a turnover of 80 million lats.
The finished products of the company is scheduled to ship in the Baltic states and the CIS, and in the future, and also to Western markets.
