The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Piley paslyavybarchy today condemned the violence in Belarus.
"I am very concerned about the use of force against protesters, who are not participate in aggressive acts of violence against candidates and abduction of opposition candidates and their supporters, detention of opposition activists and human rights defenders, searches and harassment of independent non-governmental organizations "- said Ms. Piley said in a press release.
Navi Piley also condemned any incitement to violence by some radical groups in opposition.
At the same time, she stressed that "the authorities must fully respect and ensure the rights of his political opponents to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech."
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights demanded the immediate release of opposition candidates and their supporters, who were not involved in acts of violence and incited them.
