One of the Malaysian media has recently published an article according to which in 2007 China received from Ukraine deck training aircraft Su-25UTG. The article said that this transaction was recorded in the UN Register of ordinary weapons.
Sioux 25UTG was created in 1984 and is designed for carrier-based aircraft pilot training. The plane is designed on the basis of training and combat aircraft Sou-25UB. Base plane is a two-seat attack aircraft, in contrast, the Su-25UTG is "clean" of a training machine. On board Sou-25UTG no military equipment, namely, weapons guidance systems and communication systems with ground troops.
In this paper, the assumption is that China acquired Su-25UTG not as a museum piece or to decorate the casino. China is studying the plane to the creation of its own deck training aircraft.
In Ukraine, Saki (Crimea peninsula) is the center of carrier-based aircraft pilot training. Ukraine offered to China to use this facility to prepare their own naval pilots. This offer is not like Russia, which in 2011 initiated construction of its own training center similar direction. Representatives of the Russian Navy stated that the implementation of the joint center in Saki Russian and Chinese pilots will cause "great inconvenience."
