In NEFU open laboratory Graphene nanotechnology

Today is the grand opening of educational, scientific and technological laboratory "Graphene Nanotechnology" at the Institute of Physics and Technology NEFU.

Lab created for the implementation of the federal target program "Development of the nanotechnology industry in the Russian Federation in 2008-2011." It consists of three divisions: Research, Department of the growth of graphene and technology department. Their goal — the development of research and education environment, training of highly qualified personnel in the field of nanoelectronics, conducting fundamental research in the field of graphene and grafensoderzhaschih new composite materials and the development of regional indigenous technologies in the creation of electronic devices. "Graphene — it is the thinnest crystalline material in the world. It possesses unique properties: it is 200 times stronger than steel, its conductivity is 4 times the electrical conductivity of metals, it has a remarkable transparency and conductivity. Therefore, graphene is used, for example, in the manufacture of aircraft wings. In addition, the graphene surface is a good antiseptic and is widely used in medicine, "- said the head of the laboratory Svetlana Smagulova.

With the opening of a special laboratory "Graphene nano" in North-Eastern Federal University opens a new scientific era, guests noted. In these days leading experts visited the University of Moscow.
