Today the Institute, continuing the glorious tradition, is developing a unique modern technology for diagnosis, surgical treatment and rehabilitation, which adopt not only domestic medical institutions, but also overseas.

History of Children's Orthopedic Institute named after GI Turner begins with the end of the XIX century, when the charity "Blue Cross" created "Shelter for children paralytics and cripples" with 20 beds, which was then turned into a foundling. The first shelter was the guardian of Ekaterina Kokoshkina, and he was under the patronage of the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Mavrikievny. At the orphanage children were taught various crafts to introduce them to socially useful work and promote this in their abilities.

The war that began in 1941, has violated the plan of transfer of the institute in the suburban area of the city that was the dream of GI Turner.
