In the north-east of the island of Honshu registered strong earthquake

As reported, new earthquake magnitude 5 occurred in the northeast of the main Japanese island of Honshu on Wednesday at 12:19 pm local time (7:19 Moscow time). According to the National Meteorological Administration, no destruction, the threat of a tsunami has not been announced.

The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean in the Sanriku area, its center lies at a depth of about 10 km, according to ITAR-TASS.

The strongest tremors were recorded in parts of Iwate and Miyagi prefectures.

Since the beginning of the current day on the Pacific coast of Honshu is already the second earthquake of magnitude 5. Previous underground hit of the same strength, covers a wider area, including also the Akita, Aomori and the southern part of Hokkaido.
