Lightning killed four military in northeastern Colombia, 10 woundedFour soldiers were killed and 10 others injured in a lightning strike at 410 km from the Colombian capital of Bogota, said Thursday Colombian Caracol Radio reported, citing sources in the Defense Ministry.
The tragedy occurred in the countryside near the town in the department of Teorama Norte de Santander on the border with Venezuela. At dawn on Thursday, the 30th Division brigade 2nd Army Division patrolled the area through which the tracks run through dealers.
Suddenly, there was a heavy rain and thunderstorm. One of lightning struck the crowd of people. Sergeant and three soldiers were killed immediately. Another 10 soldiers with severe burns were taken to a nearby hospital.
Colombian authorities sent to the scene a military helicopter for transporting victims to the hospital department of the capital — the city of Cucuta.
