Lithuania urges Belarus to the OSCE mission to save

Lithuania, which from 1 January chairs the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, called on the Belarusian authorities to reconsider their decision and give up the closure of the OSCE office in Minsk.

Belarusian authorities refused to renew the mandate of the OSCE mission after, it stated on numerous violations during the presidential elections in the country.

At a press conference in Vilnius, Minister Foreign Affairs Audronius Azubalis also said that the priorities of Lithuania as the country chairing the OSCE, will be to find ways to resolve the so-called "Frozen" conflicts and the protection of fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of speech and press in the region.
