"Members of the jury selected ten names of all sent out the full range of options. Today the festival participants and spectators celebrated most liked them names that were placed near the stage for a colorful stand. Majority vote of the snow leopard kittens were named Altai and Batyr. Name Altai offers about a dozen participants, including those from Novokuznetsk, Chelyabinsk, Moscow, from the Tver region, Tatarstan, Reutovo, Perm. Name Batyr offered Svetlana and Pauline from Novosibirsk. We will contact the winners and to negotiate with them on how they will receive prizes from WWF and Altai reserve "- said Lukonina.
She noted that all the participants have shown ingenuity and erudition. Suggested names range from the simple to the complex and lovely names related to Greek mythology, Slavic paganism or Buddhism. Proposed and Altaic lists the names, names after famous people or even the oligarchs, abbreviations, and compound names. The most common version of a pair of names was "Chuk and Gek" that came to mind to many people in different parts of Russia. The snow leopard is an endangered species. The Red Data Book of the Russian Federation and was awarded the first category — "look, which is under threat of extinction at the limit of the range." The total number of snow leopards in Russia, according to WWF, is not more than 80-100 individuals, most of whom are concentrated in five key groups in the south of the Krasnoyarsk region, Tuva and Altai Mountains.
