There are some delays in the system works, but their causes are the challenges that would face no matter what kind of company performing the work in foreign countries, as severe climatic conditions of the past year and rationing of electricity in Venezuela.
Upon successful course of events, the structure of the work is planned to finish at the end of the current or the first of next year, which will allow to start the installation process equipment and start the process of production machines in 2012 year. Salting stressed that Venezuela will be transferred to the development of production AK-103.
In May 2005, Venezuela has acquired 100 thousand machines AK-103/AK-104 to equip the armed forces of the state. The contract also covers the supply of 74 million rounds of 7,62 x39 mm, shops, bayonets, spare parts, technical manuals, and 5 simulators for training in shooting.
Later, in 2006, an agreement was signed for the construction companies in Venezuela for the production of machines AK-103/AK-104 and ammunition caliber 7,62 x39 mm. Both plants are being built on the ground of the Venezuelan state CAVIM (Compania Anonima Venezolana de Industrias Militares — The company's defense industry) in Maracay (sht.Aragua). Earlier it was reported that the production will employ more than 1,500 people.
