Tremors were reported on Sunday evening, March 25 (local time Monday morning, 26 March, Moscow time). The epicenter of the earthquake was the central part of the country at a distance of 27 km to the north of Talca, Maule region's administrative center, and 219 km south of the capital — Santiago. The earthquake was located at a depth of 30 km.
Information on casualties or damage have been reported yet. Warning of a possible tsunami was not extended. However, for security reasons some coastal residents evacuated.
