January 7, walking down the street in Liepaja Edward Tise, in Liepāja lake found hundreds of swans. I was surprised with a huge concentration of birds in one place.
Usually swans in winter leave our territory, flying to the south, but this season they are for some reason refused to do so. It is possible that the birds, feeling the warm winter, we decided not to depart from Latvia. If the lake does not freeze in the winter, the swans can feel quite comfortable on it — enough food, especially given the fact that the birds are very active fed liepaychane.
The local old-timers in a conversation with me said that this number of swans on the lake so far never been observed.
