Active volcano on Kamchatka Tolbachik decreased

Active volcano on Kamchatka Flat Tolbachik dropped significantly, according to RIA Novosti, the representative of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Flat Tolbachik began erupting on 27 November. In the area of the southern slope formed two fractured breakthrough with Lava — a stream of top-break was more than six kilometers from the bottom — 18 kilometers. Occasionally rose above the volcano ash column.

"The last two days of the seismic activity of the volcano is at the background level. This shows a significant weakening of the eruption," — said the source.

According to him, a sharp decrease of seismic activity may indicate the imminent termination of the eruption Tolbachik.

In Crater Flat Toblachika formed during the eruption lava lake. The relief of the surrounding area has changed a lot because of the lava piles up to 15 meters.

The last eruption of the volcano Tolbachik called Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption, occurred in 1975-1976. It was the first in the history of Russian science, which is able to predict precisely. The eruption changed the topography of the surrounding area and cause local ecological disaster — the deaths of all living things at a distance of tens of kilometers from the volcano.

Tolbachik consists of two volcanoes — Flat Tolbachik (3.085 thousand meters altitude) and acute Tolbachik (3.682 thousand meters). The nearest town — City Keys — removed from the foot of the volcano 60 kilometers.
