Cold winters in the United States are the result of the Siberian snow fall

Cold winter is the result of the American autumn snowfall in Siberia, which, in turn, caused by the melting of ice in the Arctic due to global warming, U.S. climate scientist Yudah Cohen. On his theory, he told the New York Times.

According to the researcher, who is one of the heads of Atmospheric and Environmental Research, Inc, a whole chain of events leading to the cold winters in Europe and the United States launched the global warming. This may seem a strange conclusion, but a detailed description of the mechanism proves the reverse-engineer weather though complicated, but it is consistent.

2010 remembered weather anomalies, not only Americans, but Russians who survived an unusually dry and hot summers (leading to forest fires), and in late December, freezing rain, which turned the capital into a skating rink for a few hours.

Melting ice has made warming cooling

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the planet. The word "average" should be emphasized, as well as separate note planetary scale. Increase in the average temperature does not mean that in a region now (December 29) will be warmer than it was ten, fifty or a hundred years ago. It means that today's temperature will soon be higher than that recorded in the archives of meteorologists in the past decade.

Increase in the average temperature is also directly related to how much last winter, and how-summer. That extension of the warm period in the Arctic has started the changes, which told the researcher: the ice melted, the place sparkling ridges came relatively dark water, the temperature of which has continued to grow.

More conductive ice shell without the Arctic Ocean began to evaporate more moisture. Moist air, caught wind, went to Siberia, where he became a cause snowfall: snow, drop down in Siberia in late autumn, has increased.

A sheltered snow earth behaves like ice-reflects more sunlight and therefore less heat. At this stage, the result of global warming and heating air over the Arctic is cooling in the laying of it south areas, but it does not stop.
Especially Asian relief

The second key factor that explains Cohen is Asian terrain. In the center of Eurasia, there are mountains of Tibet, in the south to the Altai Mountains in the north. Thousands of miles in all directions extending the area raised a few kilometers. It blocks the path of the winds blowing steadily in the troposphere.

High-altitude wind collide with the mountains and deflected to the side, this effect is enhanced when before the mountains, a region over which hang the newly fallen snow chilled air masses.

Change in the pattern of high-altitude flows leads to what is coming from the upbeat and chilled part of the Eurasian continent, the cold air is moving in two different directions-to the west of Europe and the Far East on the other side. Changing picture of the movement of air masses around the globe, air circulation around the Arctic region.

Polar cycling in the atmosphere can be seen not only in the world — he appears on any celestial body with a dense atmosphere. For example, the Saturn (white ring at the bottom of the images taken in infrared light). Source: NASA

This cycle (known to meteorologists for a long time, and its analogues have already found on other planets) is a giant cyclone resistant, which is held in place through the winter. And if he has changed, the changes affect not only Siberia, where initially cooled air masses, but all polar regions.

Is the result of changes and progress north of cold air in the U.S., leading to a cooling — which is very easy to accept as a fact that refutes global warming. However, according to Cohen, in fact, winter frosts, both in Europe and in the U.S. only confirms the reality of climate change associated with the melting of Arctic ice.

It is impossible not to note the critique of Cohen, which made Roger Pelco, climate scientists at the University of Colorado. He noted that Cohen has made a number of inaccuracies, and some data-for example, in this report IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel climatologists working climate change) for 2007 data on snowfall in Siberia — contradict the theory.

How will the debate is uncertain, but Cohen and his opponent, agree that the climate change is not even related to global warming, can not express themselves clearly. And faced with another thermal anomaly, do not immediately associate it with global trends, or below-average temperatures on the planet. Could easily be that the warming is caused by frost, and heat — cooling.
