Increased activity of the volcano on the island recorded Alaid Atlasova (northern Kurils), scientists do not rule out a possible eruption.
"The activity of the volcano has increased on October 6. Satellite image thermal anomaly was observed in the area of the volcano, the temperature anomalies reached 64,4-65,6 degrees Celsius. According to the inhabited island Paramushir Alaid observed over the top pole pair up to 200 meters" — said on the website of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response (KVERT) Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Scientists do not exclude the possibility of a volcanic eruption with ash emissions to 10-15 kilometers above sea level. Assigned a code yellow volcano aviation hazards (ash plume can be dangerous for flights on international and local airlines).
Alaid — the northernmost and highest volcano of the Kuril Islands, located on the island of Grand Atlasova Kuril Islands, 30 kilometers north-west of the island Paramushir and 70 kilometers south-west of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The height of the volcano — 2339 meters.
