Russian Navy will receive a new nuclear submarine at the end of 2011


Russian Navy will receive a new multipurpose nuclear submarine of the fourth generation "Severodvinsk" Project 885 "Ash" at the end of 2011, according to RIA Novosti with reference to the representative of CB "Malachite", the project developer submarine. Currently submarine passes mooring tests and preparing for a hot factory, which will begin in May 2011. As expected, the test will begin in the summer of submarine weapons systems.
Bookmark submarine "Severodvinsk" was held in 1993. In December 2009 it was reported that the submarine will start mooring trials before the end of the year. Submarine "Severodvinsk" is the lead boat of the "Ash". Currently, the shipyard "Sevmash" is building the second ship of Project 885 — "Kazan", which was founded July 24, 2009. This submarine was under construction for the upgraded project "Ash-M".
It was originally planned that the Russian Navy will receive 30 nuclear submarines of the "Ash", but now it is only about six ships. Earlier it was planned that the "Severodvinsk" will be given the Navy until the end of 2010. Length of hull submarine project "Ash" is 119 meters, and displacement — 13,8 thousand tons. Endurance is one hundred days of the submarine.
NPS can reach speeds of up to 31 nodes and will be equipped with ten torpedo tubes 650 and 533 millimeters, and 24 rocket launchers for the missiles of the "ship-to-ship" and "ship-to-earth." Cruise missiles, long-range weapons will be part of a new Russian nuclear submarine.
