The visit of the delegation of the European Parliament did not take place because of the inability to meet with detained opposition.

"It does not make sense only meet with officials and representatives of the authorities", — quotes Protasiewicz Polish Press Agency (PAP). In addition, the MP said that the Belarusian side made it clear that not all members of the delegation can get an entry visa to Belarus.
Originally planned to visit the European Parliament delegation to Belarus on January 31 to examine the conditions in which the authorities contain the ex-presidential candidates and other opposition leaders detained after the presidential elections on 19 December. MEPs also expected to meet with the families and lawyers of the detainees, independent journalists, human rights activists and representatives of authorities.
January 27 Protasevich said the visit to Belarus postponed for a month "for organizational reasons related to the political situation in the country."
The decision to cancel the trip was made today at a meeting of European parliamentarians who had enter into the composition of the delegation.
