The unprecedented seismic activity in Kamchatka

Volcano on Kamchatka Kizimen threw ash to a height of 5.9 km above sea levelPetropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, September 7 — RIA Novosti. Professionals registered for the last day of almost fifteen hundred local earthquakes near the erupting volcano in Kamchatka Kizimen, told RIA Novosti the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

"At night time (fixed) over the crater glow Kizimov, indicating that the output of fresh lava and the glow of the lava flow on the eastern flank of the volcano," — said the source.

According to him, local seismic events in the area of the volcano accompanied by continuous spasmodic volcanic tremor.

Volcanic eruption Kizimen located on the western slope of the southern part of the range Tumrok 115 kilometers from the village Milkovo and 265 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, began in December last year. Above the crater of the volcano periodically raised powerful column of ash and gas, its slopes descend hot avalanches.

Kizimen — one of 29 active volcanoes in Kamchatka, its height is 2.5 thousand meters. Silent for decades volcano started to become active in July 2010. The last eruption occurred in Kizimov 1928-1929.
