Earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in the south of Peru, data on victims and destructions. On it informs RIA Novosti referring to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Tremor was recorded on Friday at 03.02 Moscow time, 160 kilometers south of the city of Cusco. Its center lies at a depth of 123 kilometers.

Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire, next to the world famous monument of Indian civilization of Machu Picchu, which annually visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists.

Through Peru is the so-called Pacific "fire zone". This is where the vast majority of known volcanoes of the planet and is 90 percent of all earthquakes in the world.
