Baltic Shipyard "Yantar" gave the Indian Navy first frigate Project 11356, built under contract for the supply of the second of three ships, the report said the United Shipbuilding Company. Official ceremony of transfer of the ship was accomplished by "Amber" April 27, 2012. As part of the new Indian Navy frigate receive the name of "Tag".

The contract for the supply of the first 3 frigates Project 11356 India signed at the end of the 1990s. The first two ships — "Talwar" and "Trishul" — went into action with the Indian Navy in May and November 2000, and the last — "Tabar" — in May 2001. The contract for the supply of the second batch of 3 frigates was signed in 2006. The deal amounted to 1.5 billion dollars.

In August 2011, the Minister of Defence of India Arakaparambil Kurian Antony announced that the state company "Rosoboronexport" has notified the Indian Defense Ministry about the delays in the delivery of the latest batch of frigates.

Initially, it was planned that the first ship project 11356 — "Tag" — will be delivered to the customer in April 2011, the second — "Tarkash" — in October 2011, and the third — "Trikand" — in April 2012. The modified schedule foresaw the transfer of the first frigate of the Indian Navy in April 2012, the second — in September 2012, and the third — in June 2013.

Ships Project 11356 possess a displacement of four thousand tons. Frigate hull length of 124.8 meters. The ships are capable of speeds up to 30 knots and the range of their course is 4.5 thousand miles. The frigates are armed with artillery, anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, torpedo launchers and anti-ship missiles Club-N.
