Second-form girl honored for saving 3-year-old girl near Tver

Chapter GUMCHS the Tver region on Wednesday presented the medal "For Distinguished Service in the aftermath of an emergency," 8-year-old Sophia Panova, who last fall had fallen into the river saved the 3-year-old girl, reported the Regional Emergency Management.

The incident occurred Oct. 23, 2012. Student of the second class of the Lyceum № 15 of Vyshnii Volochek Sofia Panov was walking the dog along the waterfront and saw the edge of a fishing bridge fell into the water and began to sink 3-year-old Arina. Schoolgirl is not confused, quickly grabbed her by the hood and pulled to shore, then called for help adults.

"Mayor Alex Pantyushkin sent a formal representation (petition) to award the 8-year-old Sophia Panova commemorative badge for saving drowning," — said the ministry.

The grand award ceremony took place on Wednesday in the high school, where he studied Sofia. Schoolgirl thanked his mother rescued Arina, her homeroom teacher, the mayor of the city, as well as the head GUMCHS Russia in Tver region Arsen Grigoryan. He also gave Sofia departmental award — the Medal of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, "For distinction in the aftermath of an emergency."
