A year ago, the PAK FA made its first flight

A year marks tomorrow, January 29, the date of the first flight of a fighter of the 5th generation, ITAR-TASS reported. The prototype of a promising aviation complex tactical aircraft (PAK FA) first took to the skies in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The plane was piloted by distinguished test pilot Sergei Bogdan Russia. Flight plan had been fully implemented. The car performed well in all phases of the planned flight program.
General Director of "Sukhoi" Mikhail Pogosyan, described the event as a great success of Russian science and design ideas. Behind him stands cooperation over hundreds of allied enterprises. PAK FA program displays a Russian aircraft and related industry to a new level of technology. These aircraft, together with upgraded aviation systems 4th generation will determine the potential of the Russian Air Force in the coming decades.
Currently, flight and ground tests of PAK FA is successfully continued. Soon to be joined by a second flight model.
The company plans to "dry" part of the further development of the program of new-generation aircraft with Indian partners. This — the largest joint project of Russian-Indian military-technical cooperation. In December 2010 during the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to India of "Rosoboronexport", HAL and "Dry" signed a contract for the development of conceptual and technical design perspective multirole fighter (PMI). The aircraft is developed on the basis of the PAK FA according to stringent technical requirements of the Indian side.
Compared to the previous generation fighters, PAK FA has several unique features, combining the functions of attack aircraft and fighter. The plane of the 5th generation has a fundamentally new avionics integrating the function of "electronic pilot" and promising radar with a phased antenna array. This greatly reduces the load on the pilot and allows you to concentrate on the implementation of tactical tasks.
On-board equipment of the new aircraft enables the exchange of data in real time as a land management systems, and within the aviation group. The use of composite materials and innovative technology, aerodynamic design aircraft, measures to reduce the visibility of the engine provides unprecedented low level of radar, optical and infrared visibility. This can significantly increase the combat effectiveness of the work, both by air and ground targets at any time of day, and adverse weather conditions.
