BelaPAN was told in the press service of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the letter on the possibility of such a visit, the head of the working group Uta Zapf sent to the House of Representatives. The main purpose of the visit — the study of the situation in the country after the 2010 presidential election.

In addition, plans to visit Minsk OSCE Representative on Freedom of Expression Dunja Mijatovic. February 24 during the session of the OSCE in Vienna Mijatovic reported that, according to her, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry is trying to help in the organization of this visit, which could occur in the near future.

Mijatovic twice in January this year sent letters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergei Martynov to organize her visit, but to no avail.

Yesterday, during the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held a meeting of the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, to discuss the situation in Belarus.

The head of the OSCE short-term observer mission to the elections in Belarus Tony Lloyd, presenting the report of OSCE observers on the presidential election, said that the country still has a long way to democracy.

The panelists also discussed the situation with the OSCE Office in Belarus, saying that the decision of the official Minsk to close the office "pathetic."
