Throughput of the port of Taganrog increased by 7% in 2012

In 2012, the turnover of JSC "Taganrog Sea Commercial Port" ("TCS") amounted to about 1.5 million tons, which is 7% more than in 2011.
The volume of imports grew by 14% to 265 thousand tons, export — by 16% to 1.04 million tons. The volume of transshipment coasting declined by 32% to 176 thousand tons.
Bulk cargo volumes increased by 8% to 898 thousand tons. The volume of coal rose by 12% to 649 thousand tons. Transshipment of ore production and grain cargoes remained at the 2011 level.
Transshipment of containerized cargo has decreased by 23%, to 17 million TEUs, bulk — 10%, to 254 thousand tons. The decrease is mainly due to the difficult weather conditions in the winter navigation period of 2011-2012, and in 2012 started the restructuring of the Taganrog Automobile Plant.
However, the amount of handling general cargo higher than in 2011 by 19% and amounted to 325 thousand tons. At 4 times, up to 124 thousand tons, increased the amount of processing metals.
During the 12 months of 2012, "TCS" handled 17,068 cars and 458 ships.
