Almost 40% of Russians do not drink alcohol, does not drink himself believes one in four men, and almost half of women do not even drink beer, said the deputy head of the Federal State Statistics Service Konstantin Laikam.
Federal Service of State Statistics of Russia carried out a study of the health and health care needs. In a survey involving nearly 20,000 adults and 3,000 Russian children.
"Over 38% of respondents over 15 years old said they did not drink alcohol, another 5% admitted that they rarely use. Such a high percentage of non-drinkers can not fail to surprise, but we know that such questions, many respondents answered, embellishing the truth," — Laikam said.
More than 3% of men drink alcohol daily, 11% — several times a week, 22% — once a week, others less frequently than twice a month. The females drink 3-4 times less often than men, said Laikam.
"However, the alarming fact that 1% of girls aged 15 to 19 years old consume beer every day," — he added.
Rosstat study found that over 30% of Russians are smokers.
"Men who smoke are much more than women: 55% vs. 14%. More than 26% smoke daily, and 5% — occasionally. Worth noting that Russians smoke a lot: more than half a pack of smokes a day in 60% of the respondents, more than a pack — every tenth smoker "- said Laikam.
According to him, the vast number of smokers addicted to tobacco at the age of 15 to 20 years, with one in six started smoking before the age of 15 years.
