Earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred in the south of Azerbaijan

Earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred on Monday at 11:47 local time (10:47 MSK), 15 kilometers west of the city in the south of Azerbaijan, Lankaran, reports Seismological Service Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the country.

According to the report, in the midst of a push force was four points, in nearby towns — 3.5 points.

The earthquake was at a depth of 15 kilometers.

Last Monday, on the south-west of the country, a series of earthquakes, the first of which occurred in 9.41 (8.41 MSK) at a distance of 17 kilometers south-west of Zagatala. In Zagatala and Gakh magnitude was 7 points, Sheki, Oguz, Gazakh, Tovuz and several other areas — from 2 to 5. The epicenter was located at a depth of 11 kilometers.

Human sacrifice was not, however, caused serious damage to the element of residential buildings.

On the same day were recorded several earthquakes, the strongest of which was magnitude 5.4 at 19.16 (18.16 MSK) is 14 kilometers southwest of Zagatala. Power aftershocks felt in Zagatala, Gakh, Balaken regions.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan last count, more than three thousand buildings in the area collapsed or came to the emergency state.
