Trans-Baikal campaign-Siberian Railway. Novopavlovka — Tolbaga

So today we fast forward to almost 9 years ago and 5,836 miles east of Moscow in the summer of 2004 and in the Western Transbaikalia. And go slowly peshochkom directly on the canvas Trans Tolbaga station, where in December 1899 noted the bond between builders Trans-Baikal area of the Great Siberian way. As the place of the European people do not understand, I will try to maps and charts to show them as clearly as possible. In support to the pictures will be brought eyewitness accounts of 1908, as well as excerpts from the king's Guide Trans-Baikal Railway in 1905.

Trans-Siberian, Trans-Baikal region. River Valley Hillock, 5834 km from Moscow

2. But first — about which locations will be discussed. Red dot north from the Mongolian border, west of Chita and south-east of Ulan-Ude — we go there.

3. In these places the Trans-Siberian railway, passing from Ulan-Ude through Petrovsky Zavod station, should be almost as far south as the valley Khilok, then makes a sharp turn to the east bank of the river and passes, partly repeating bends his bed. For Bud station Transsiberian goes on Yablonovy Pass and Chita. Very scenic and spectacular places, when you go on the train. Two red dots — this is the initial (left) and the final mark fotopohoda.

4. Now, a disposition more detail. We go out of town Novopavlovka, the station of the same name on the Trans-Siberian Railway, and arrive at the station on the former Tolbaga, now disassembled and turned into a stopping point. Most of the route will move along the Trans-Siberian paintings, and sometimes directly on it.

5. So, July 23, 2004, leave Novopavlovka. Exit should be early enough to make the whole route "to" time to go for a pleasant cool and a benefit to the midday Pautov. But the back has on the environment. First, go down the street to the border of the village's May.

6. Working well past the water tower 1940. But it is early in the morning, of course, closed.

7. When he reached the border of houses, turn 90 ° to the street Quay.

8. We pass by this lovely home "with the calves." Here in the years 1962-1990. lived younger brother of my grandfather, a veteran of the war stalingradets Anatoly Stepanovich Sigachyov. Then he went with his family to the Kuban, and 8 years later, when his wife died, he returned back to his native Trans-Baikal region, but this house has been sold long ago. He is still alive, a disabled group 1, but now lives in Ulan-Ude, the son.

9. We go on the street. Shaft to the Trans-Siberian Railway. There he is already visible in the distance.

10. Street is perpendicular to the Trans-Siberian railway, entering the local track on Tolbaga. Well, we turn to the left, to the east.

11. Eastern neck Novopavlovka station. PMS is closer locomotive (track machine stations), and away — freight train, ready for departure. While I'm going to move, he will go and overtake me. Bottom left on a stone — wreath. Someone once crashed here on a motorcycle and chasing people (young people, of course) is very crazy. Traditionally, there are places turn into wreaths or flowers are labeled.

12. PMS-ovsky locomotive cozy and homey closed shtorochkami there sleeping driver or assistant. During the day they will leave out for miles, to work on the highway.

13. We go through this wide path along the main path. Away — Novopavlovka station, the direction of the west.

14. From the same place and look to the east. Ahead — a move where we also go Trans-Siberian Railway, and then — swirling mist. Same morning. It swirls over Khilki, noting its course.

15. We pass through the crossing, and the road is very close to Khilok, which here flows into river Zun-Tignya.

16. Turn around 180 °. View of the Trans-Siberian Railway and w / d bridge over the Zun-Tignyu: we are now ahead of mail-luggage number 904 Moscow — Vladivostok.

17. Fog over Khilki gradually dissipated. On the far right are seen strongly flattened hill — there is a broad zone of meadows in the floodplain of the river Indyazhiny, too influx Khilok, but southern.
Those places are memorable to me that's where we spent the morning of August 19, 1991, helping families to mowing. I just had a long holiday Kamchatka. Returned to Novopavlovka, and after mowing the impact of labor decided to take a steam bath. It was then with a joyful cry and ran to our cousin, my siste
r's husband — "Hunchback shot! Hurrah!". "What the Hunchback? — Your local chief, or what?". "Well what — who spotted! Gorbach". "Ahhh … Seriously, do not you lie? Drunk, probably already?". "Honestly, honestly! On TV handed. And nothing is passed. Seem to be one Swan Lake".
However, about that time and what was then the reaction Transbaikalians and the Far East to the coup and EBN I somehow tell in detail, not here.
And we — we go further east :-)

18. Railroad after Zun-Tigni skirts the rocky "cheek". On the way back to the day I'll climb to the top of the hill and a semi-circle panorama otsnimu Trans-Siberian Railway, which at the end of 2006 will get a turn in the parade magazine "Expedition".

19. At the next bend Khilok fog has not gone up, and even thickened. 5831 km from Moscow.

20. Along the lines of a massively growing flower, very beautiful, but I do not know his name.

21. Stopping point 5833 km. Looking East: Transsiberian then cuts the bend, going straight. No fog — we moved away from the river.

22. By moving the main road parallel to the Trans-Baikal transport — timber. Next visible clouds of mist above the river.

23. A bend Khilok very well traced by fog.

24. Hundred-meter picket sign. Earlier in the sockets of characters for a long time, draw a red star, but at the beginning of zero mass began to paint over it with white paint.

25. 5834 km. Hillock goes to the railway.

26. Again rocky "cheek".

27. Hillock again makes a big bend …

28. As he left … to the southern part of the wide valley. And can you imagine how it looks from a higher windows of the car!

29. Skirting the rocky cliff, the road gradually rectified. Rear — 5835 kilometer mark.

30. Auto-transfer to Khilok bridge.

31. And the bridge itself. Logging road then goes to the south, after 60 km Malhansky Passing over the ridge, and then splits on Red Chikoy and Yamarovka.

32. Well, have already started and Tolbaga, with its flood-Khiloksky meadows and pastures.

33. Here's what I wrote about these places Life surgeon Pavlov, in 1908 (p. 18, circled in red).

In general, the book itself is also recommended — very interesting and very hard-hitting picture of Russian troops in order to look "from below." The author did not send any telegrams Mikado, he was just doing his medical at the front of the debt. After reading becomes clearer how and why were the origins of revolutionizing the lowest ranks in 1905 — if you look seriously, without the current fashion hrusteny bun and malicious machinations zhydomasonov.

34. 5836 km of Transsib, view to the west.

35. Finally, the approach to the station built in the early XX century. In the era of the locomotive Tolbaga was a big station with a buffet, there were all the passenger trains, and even the number Manchurian Express half. Right in the construction of hot water cube was placed here, all the passengers were recruited his way to the boiling water (then the Titans inside the cars were only express train wagons of the 1st and 2nd grades).

36. Here is an extract from the pro Tolbaga Guide to the Great Siberian way in 1905.

37. A look at the royal station buildings on the east side.

38. We pass on, along the former station. Here, too, something happened, but already demolished and overgrown grass.

39. On the hill — a large building. This is the school of the Stalinist era: the Trans-Siberian towns in the school of the 1930s and 1950s are usually the capital and large buildings. Now she had no students for a full cycle, all departed, the village in the nineties noticeably empty and has much less than five hundred people.

40. Abandoned tolbaginsky station. The station was closed with the fall in turnover on the Trans-Siberian railway in the mid-1990s and in the 2000s, more is not revived, left just o / n, even after a significant increase in the movement of the late-Putin period.

41. So that local residents attempted to retrain him in DC. Now it has been almost nine years since the filming of the frame, I do not know whether the station is alive at all, as the building.

42. View of the station and dismantled the first path. These powerful trees were planted here already under Stalin in the late 1930s.

44. The plate station, even with the IPU and the Order of the Trans-Baikal Railway

45. And then, finally, the goal of our campaign — a memorial chapel, felled in the honor of joining the Trans-Baikal Road. Road closed in December 16, 1899, the celebration came the Minister of Communications of the Empire Prince Khilkov, and on the same day the train came here of Sretensk to Shilka.

Telegram to Emperor Nicholas II, as the Governor-General of Trans-Baikal area:
"Today, December 16, at two o'clock in the 361 verst accomplished a great world event: laid the last link the Trans-Baikal Railway, connected by a straight steam message, considering Baikal and the Shilka from Sretenskii, not only the Baltic and the Black Sea to the Great Ocean, but also has given a continuous shortest steam movement around the globe. […]. "
Further, expression of feelings loyal to the Emperor, there's still a lot of words. Pompously, of course, but that was the style of the era.

45. (of the Guide 1905) Then the chapel looked a little richer and more complex, for it was a carving above the entrance, as well as projections with crosses on all four sides. Disappeared and poppy-head. Since the early 1930s, it has long been used as a warehouse Puteiskiy, and in 1974 (the 75th anniversary of the Trans-Baikal Railway) was again restored, but with some simplification.

46. Nowhere to be found "working" photo minister Hilkova any Baikal, nor on the lake, so I put it here a formal portrait of the Guide-1905. It is the Minister of Railways number 16 in the history of the Empire, as well as the "Trans-Siberian's" minister (1895-1905), which was built in the vast majority of first-line option. By the way, in the caption to the previous photo you see "a loyal" spoofing reason: chapel was constructed did not stay in the memory of the prince, and in memory of road links. A sort of flattery that era. When Hilkova other ministers were replaced in later editions began to write correctly.

47. "Docking" chapel on the other side. In the background is visible state house for railway construction in 1900, and he is in the photo number 46, see above.

48. View the details of the chapel. It is clearly seen that the roof patched the hole where the mini-loft with a cross.

49. View of the station with the former chapel. You can clearly see the path where the dismantled Soviet times, when the station was a 5 way. And, interestingly enough, by 2004, there was not even taken off contact network. As is now — I do not know.
