NORTH KOREA has a large number of ballistic missiles than previously thought
North Korea may have up to 200 mobile launchers of ballistic missiles «ground-to-ground», or twice as much as previously was believed English sector reports to RIA Novosti May 17 with reference to South Korean media.
 
South Korean defense Municipal Institute research KIDA presented a report that North Korea may have accumulated to 200 mobile launchers, including up to 100 PU missiles Scud (variants of Russian tactical missiles R-17 — approx. «VP»), 50 medium-range missiles, «Rodong» and 50 long-range missiles «Musudan» (pictured).
 
Previously it was believed that North Korea has less than 94 mobile launchers of ballistic missiles.
 
In the Pentagon report indicated that North Korea continues to increase its missile program from, despite the economic difficulties. These missiles are the main focus in places where they can threaten the armed forces stationed in South Korea and South American troops in the country.
 
Tensions on the Korean peninsula rose sharply in December 2012, when North Korea conducted tests 2-range ballistic missiles «Taepodong», and in February this year had the third nuclear test.
 
In response to these tests the UN imposed sanctions against Pyongyang. Joint military exercises of troops in South Korea and the United States angered North Korea, which peaked with the dangers of a nuclear strike on the United States and South American terrain troops deployed in South Korea.
