Russian soldiers receive infrared tags
The Russian Defense Ministry have graduated from tests infrared tags that allow soldiers to identify each other in the night vision goggles, the newspaper «Izvestia», citing a source of the Defence Ministry. Tags planned to strengthen the Velcro on the field form new sets VKBO. The special design gives a unique tag infrared illumination by which men will be able to distinguish between their own and the enemy.
The label is a rectangle and is attached to the sleeve pockets with velcro. Material tag is capable of reflecting infrared radiation only; in night vision device such as a colorful label is visible point. You can see the infrared tag only through the Plan. According to the newspaper, similar means of distinguishing combatants on the battlefield for a couple of years used in the U.S.; on the American form tags are attached to the clothes, hats, flak jackets and shoes.
Meanwhile, a source in the Defense Ministry newspaper said that the Russian armed forces lack the high quality night vision devices. Existing devices do not allow to distinguish exactly infrared tags. For example, night vision device for small guns NSPU has a little vision and low resolution. Since 2009, the Russian Ministry of Defense buys Belarusian night sights «Yukon» and «Daedalus».
