Trunk electrical Network (MES) Center completed trials of two industrial designs first in the world of asynchronous static compensators (ASA) reactive power at 500 kV Beskudnikovo (Moscow).
After studying the results of the test, which lasted 11 days, the decision will be made of the timing of ASA in the pilot operation.

ASA is different from the traditional synchronous compensator having two windings on the rotor excitation shifted relative to each other around the circumference of the rotor within the pole pitch. The presence of a second coil can excite not only the compensator along the longitudinal axis, as in a synchronous machine, but also on the list. This gives ASA qualitatively new properties in comparison with the synchronous compensators — expanding the area of static and dynamic stability of the power system and the compensator, which included works ASA.
