Designs are tested first in the world of asynchronous static compensators

Trunk electrical Network (MES) Center completed trials of two industrial designs first in the world of asynchronous static compensators (ASA) reactive power at 500 kV Beskudnikovo (Moscow).

After studying the results of the test, which lasted 11 days, the decision will be made of the timing of ASA in the pilot operation.

Pilot samples — two aspirin with a capacity of 100 MVAR — made in 2009 by order of JSC "FGC UES" branch of OJSC "Power Machines" — by the "Electric power" in the scientific and technical support of "SEC power."

The introduction of this innovative development of Russian scientists should greatly enhance the stability of the power system of the capital, to reduce the risk of system failures.

Asynchronized expansion joints are used in networks to eliminate the shortage of reactive power and voltage control in the network. They are able to generate and consume reactive power over a wide range and have a high overload capacity, the sustainability of the adjacent grid in case of accidents.

ASC is a complex consisting of a proper AC electric machine, excitation system and the automatic control system of protection and alarm systems with automatic regulator (AVR).

ASA is different from the traditional synchronous compensator having two windings on the rotor excitation shifted relative to each other around the circumference of the rotor within the pole pitch. The presence of a second coil can excite not only the compensator along the longitudinal axis, as in a synchronous machine, but also on the list. This gives ASA qualitatively new properties in comparison with the synchronous compensators — expanding the area of static and dynamic stability of the power system and the compensator, which included works ASA.
