Earthquake in China: thousands affected

The night before, on August 9, the city of Baoshan in Yunnan Province in southern China recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5.2. Preliminary estimates from the disaster affected 44,341 inhabitants. All the wounded were hospitalized, according to "People's Daily".

Hearth quake lies at a depth of 11 km. In the safe areas were evacuated 441 people. An earthquake had damaged 22,823 buildings.

To eliminate the effects of the disaster sent over 480 Fire and Rescue Service Brigade.

Mountainous Yunnan province is one of the top tourist destinations in China. Province is famous for its multi-national composition, flora and fauna. Yunnan borders with Burma, Laos and Vietnam.
