Five tons of cyanide leak occurred at the chemical companies in Japan

Leaked five tons of sodium cyanide, enough to poison 125,000 people, occurred at a chemical plant in Japan during snow removal, reports on Wednesday AFP.

According to the management of the plant Kurosaka Plating Co. Hanamaki in the north, the incident occurred more Tuesday. Workers cleaned the factory objects of snow and ice and accidentally damaged a valve on the container with a toxic substance, one liter is enough to kill 25 people.

"Fortunately, the snow has absorbed most of the liquid, and we raised the poisoned mass, which was not included in the nearest river and as far as we know, did not cause health problems for plant employees and local residents," — said the representative of the enterprise in which cyanide sodium used for galvanizing and gilding metal products.
