Gomel Democrats will go to Chernobyl Affected Areas

April 2 Coordinating Council of Democratic Forces of the Gomel region has identified a number of activities for the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

Therefore, the regional democratic forces intend to inform the public about the harmful effects of the disaster, pay attention the public at the Chernobyl problems in connection with the accident at the Japanese nuclear power plant Fukushima-1 and intention of the Belarusian authorities to build a new nuclear power plant in Astravets district of the Grodno region. "

Created by the organizing committee to prepare for the Chernobyl anniversary. On the eve of April 26 politicians and social activists will visit the most affected by the Chernobyl disaster areas — Bragin, Hoinikskii, Narovlyansky, Dobrushskiy, Vetkovskiy, Korma, Checherskij where lay flowers at the memorial monument to victims of the nuclear disaster, will meet with local residents.

In Gomel, representatives of the UDF book a meeting at which plans to collect over thousands of people.

Regional Council of the UDF defined itself as a political coalition. Together with the newly established Union of Democratic Organizations political activists will participate in training in Gomel Republican conference on Chernobyl.
