Leopard population in Russia is restored, now live in a country of about 50 individuals, scientists have recorded four new individuals, the head of the Kremlin administration, Sergei Ivanov.
"We managed to prevent extinction. Slowly, slowly, but the leopard population begins to grow," — said Ivanov at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Eurasian center study, preservation and restoration of the leopards.
According to him, the scientists recorded the four previously encountered cats, two of them juveniles, who recently left her mother, but remained within the national park.
The head of the Kremlin administration, said that in April, thanks to the joint efforts in Primorye, a National Park, which is able to accept most of the Far Eastern leopard. Area covers nearly 262,000 acres.
Ivanov said that the territory of the national park is protected by law, but the problem is that the law itself is not able to revive the endangered species of flora and fauna.

So, for the summer-autumn national park staff prevented a large number of violations, compiled 352 administrative reports, 24 of the material sent to the law enforcement bodies for criminal cases, removed hundreds of fishing gear.

Ivanov said that the results of this year you can already say that the project "Land of Leopard" is beginning to show results. He thanked the management and staff of the new national park for the work and noted the activities of law enforcement officers who carry out the work to combat poaching.
As for the Euro-Asian Centre for recovery of the population of leopards, the organization should be geared primarily to assist in solving infrastructural and logistical issues.
Ivanov said that at present in the National Park, with the financial support of the center is almost built five cordons. Park staff have good clothes, "no worse than the special forces", as well as communications and transport.
National Park "Land of Leopard" was established in Primorye in 2012 to save the Far Eastern leopard and Siberian tiger. It includes a nature reserve "Cedar Pad" and reserve "Leopard", the area of which is increased to 261 thousand hectares.

The situation with the Far Eastern leopard can be considered catastrophic — in the last 20 years the area of leopard in Russia almost halved, while the number was reduced to ten. Scientists from many countries and the WWF are concerned that the Amur leopard is on the verge of extinction.
