MP goes to the KGB

Every day during the summer on the site of Liberty new page book by Alexander Lukashuk "Liharev. Oswald in Minsk."

Primary sources in the Soviet era known as the classics of Marxism-Leninism (in fact, instead of the duo was a trio or quartet, but Engels to your "ism" has not held, and Stalin in the early 60's with a concert brigades have already dropped out). The primary source of Ming period, Oswald is, of course, the development of business intelligence KGB — is the body of the dictatorship led his chronicle of life, sometimes kastravany, often in the style of fantasy, but in a stationery detailed.

Oswald in Minsk, I became interested in Soviet times, but never, despite the status of a member of the Supreme Council for the rights of victims of political repressions, did not even see his archival work, and if the person did not know one person, who held it in his hands, might think — and whether it is at all?

The man who has not only seen, but flipping through the case of Oswald — Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation Sergei Navumchyk.

One day in 1992, me in Minsk called American television journalists who were going to make a documentary about Oswald — approaching the 30th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, they have had help with the pictures in the factory, from an archive of all the KGB. I forwarded the request to Sergey Navumchyk — he was not only an influential coordinator of the parliamentary opposition, but also the secretary of the commission for the media, public and human rights.

And he was a journalist — so willingly undertook to help himself and became interested in business. He recalls: *

In 1992, I was asked to contribute to American journalists access to the case of Oswald in the Belarusian KGB. I wrote a letter to the chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus Stanislav Shushkevich to grant access to the "case of Oswald," I do. I knew that if Shushkievich give a direct indication of the leadership of the KGB, I will have a real chance to get access. A few days later the assistant chairman of Sun showed me the resolution on my address, "E.Shyrkovskamu — S.Shushkevich." And — everything. Like, let KGB chairman decides.

Stanislav Shushkevich, the chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus

While the KGB directly subordinate to the Supreme Council and its chairman — another command of the Committee in independent Belarus was not. In addition, under the law, members have access to all public authorities and to all documents. Departmental Regulations KGB restricted circle of persons admitted to the secrets. But the law must be above.

It was not all that easy, of course. During the break, the session of the Supreme Council for Navumchyk went too deputy, deputy chairman of the KGB General Gennady Lavitskaya and agaroshyv news: now you, Sergey, write requests to the Shushkevich, and in Minsk in full swing working American writer Mailer comes to the club Dzerzhinsky and give him the documents from the Oswald's case, it leads to Minsk familiar Oswald.

The deputy took the news calmly, because I thought that someone who is, and Americans have a moral right to be informed about who is recognized as the killer of their President. But he also believed that the Belarusian and researchers have the right to obtain the following information:

After the "no" resolution Shushkevich had to wait for solutions, Colonel-General Shirkovskogo, the last head of the KGB in the Byelorussian SSR and the first president of the institution in independent Belarus.

Provide reliable (of course not all) of the information from the case of Oswald Belarusian researchers, and with democratic image, and even to those who, whatever it was, under the law are entitled to it — meant to remove the possible criticisms aside in the history of the KGB with Mailer. Well, maybe not the last role was playing my status as the coordinator of the parliamentary opposition BNF — work in the archives of the KGB Deputy best evidence of the degree of democratization "bodies" (and made problematic criticism toward the deputy KGB at least during this work.)

As a result Shirkovskogo responded positively to my request, and sometime in the spring of 1993 in the office of the Archives Department of Alexander Veras showed me something called "Case of Oswald."

It is important to note — to Sergei Navumchyk none of the civilian researchers, domestic or foreign, has never held in my hands and flipping through the "Business intelligence design number 34451."

This — the first complete description of her:

In the cart (similar to those used in airports or supermarkets), brought plump volumes and put them on the table.

Volume was seven. The last, seventh, consisted entirely of correspondence on the issue of the file explorer, and most recently filed document was my letter to the deputy Shushkevich on letterhead with its resolution. Was the one that started drawing from the newspaper (I think "The News") with a portrait of Kennedy in mourning frame, and hood were from other newspapers. I was shown a request for government communications (HF) in the Belorussian KGB about Oswald, made immediately after the Kennedy assassination and the answer-help, again according to HF, the chairman of the KGB Petrov. And there is — typing an article signed by APN ("So what did Oswald in the Soviet Union?"), As amended by hand.

Separate materials that were associated with the departure of Oswald and Marina Prusakovay with the Soviet Union — Correspondence with oVIRa, some help.

Another is contained materials recovered from the various Soviet (mostly Minsk) institutions that had to do with Oswald — yes, I noticed his medical card.

But, of course, the most interesting were the volumes of "rapid development" of Oswald — his report was set for him Agents (remember the phrase "and briskly walked"), transcripts of conversations — and not just phone (instant view of some text enough to understand, that Oswald's apartment in Minsk auditioned. decrypted I noticed in the form of a dialogue, "He-She-He-She" conversation).

On some sheets of paper in a typewriter were dashes in which the words were written with a fountain pen.

There were even text notes, extracted from the Recycle Bin.

Separate volume consisted of the envelopes in which there were tapes and fotanegatyvy (35 milimetrovki, cut to 4-5 frames). Thus, in one envelope lay the negative with the marriage of Oswald — as I have explained, made by a hidden camera. Magnetic tapes were mainly without bobbins.

There were letters — from Oswald and Oswald, from Minsk and from America. I noticed an envelope from which was cut off "with meat" postage stamp — presumably, one of the then KGB fond filyateliyay, tore the American Sailor in the collection.

Filyatelistychnyya passions were stronger for public safety. Well, if there were mikrakropki or any special code, as sometimes in the movies? Where once all the hype of vigilance gone.

It turned out — will not go away.

* Specially for this book Sergei Navumchyk restored the course of events — he has preserved many of its notes at the time, documents, audio recordings.

Following tomorrow.
