The city Kuvandyk ascertain the cause of death of birds near slurry pits

Investigators are checking on the fact of mass death of birds near the pond in the first slurry pits of "South-Ural cryolite plant" in Kuvandyk, said Tuesday the SU IC in the Orenburg region.

"In the area of slurry pits along the shoreline of the reservoir were found dead 168 white-fronted geese, nine swans and one duck," — said in a statement.

At the scene, investigators left, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists, veterinarians, police officers.

Experts during the inspection of the water samples and carcasses of dead birds to determine the cause of mass death, and revealed a large concentration of industrial waste all around the southern and eastern parts of slurry pits, said agency.
