One of his managers organizatorovi was born in Nizhny Novgorod land prodigious man of destiny Valentine Ye Sitnov

The crew of the fight and flight ready

Aboutn was born in 1918 in the village of Diveevo that nestled amid ancient forests in areas where once worked righteous good deeds recognizable Seraphim of Sarov.

Nature has generously endowed Valka Sitnova not begrudge him the full measure of the release and the heroic strength and youthful article and rollicking prowess. What a bright head on his shoulders to put fathoms not forgotten. In the 30s this was the Falcons one way — into the sky. Because immediately after finishing college and chemical Aero Club in Dzerzhinsk, Valentine got a ticket to the Young Communist League school of military pilots, and after training in it — in the direction of the heavy bomber regiment of the Leningrad Military neighborhood. Hardly had time to get used to the team and learn the latest technology, as the Finnish campaign began.

The crew of the young pilot actually once a day dropped bombs on enemy fortifications near Vyborg and Kexholm. For a successful attack on a naval base on the peninsula Kotka Sitnova bestowed the Order of the Red Star. Own 40 fifth combat mission in that short of the Winter War Valentine made a day or two before the signing of the peace treaty.

Then Sitnova had to fly to the south, over the Donbas and the Black Sea lowlands, the Crimean peninsula and the Black Sea. And then came the majestic Russia.

In two years, more than two hundred times Valentin cast off on combat missions. 6 times it incited. Twice car was burning in the air. Three times he had to land the plane, being slightly wounded. But every time a bomber reaches for native airfield.

Of the car, riddled with bullets, "Messershmity 'fragments of anti-aircraft shells, conjured engineers and technicians. The wounded pilot, navigator and arrows — doctors and nurses. After a few days Sitnov again reported to the commander of the regiment: "The crew of the fight and ready to fly." And once again raised the plane in the front palate.

The fate of Captain

First, the summer of 1942 photo lieutenant Valentine Sitnova rounds of all the national newspapers. His group languid bombers killed storage facilities in the Romanian town of Ploiesti, in which were stored strategic supplies of fuel for the whole of the southern group of enemy armies. And in another several days and destroyed the bridge over the Danube in the pipeline steel road between Bucharest and Constanta port, forever interrupting the supply of the main naval base of the enemy on the Black Sea. During the execution of this special task Valentin Sitnov June 20, 1942 was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Union.

His plane was shot down in June 40 the third. Valentine, by this time, the captain and commander of the squadron, led eight of IL-4 in the bombing of the 1st of fortified areas in the Donbass. When the band embarked on a course for military bombing of German anti-aircraft fire all focused on driving. From a direct hit right engine broke after a few seconds the flames enveloped and left engine. Hopes to hold on to at least strip the front remained. And Sitnov — for the first time in two years of the war — ordered the crew to abandon the blazing bomber. The very last jump, when the fire has already crept into the cockpit.

A little over the head of salvation opened the canopy, Valentine lost consciousness. In itself came at dusk: an old lady from the mining camp, near which a ravine overgrown with thick bushes plunged captain, cool water washed the face of the pilot. Determined to wade through the front Sitnov gave her the deposit flight tablet, membership card, an officer's certificate and insignia of the Order, leaving only for himself but the gun gold star on his tunic under a burnt overalls. For what? Surely, Valentine himself was unable to explain.

Four nights he walked slowly to the east, each time with the coming of dawn, hiding in the craters from bombs or shallow hollows. And in the morning the fifth day or trying to get across the highway, nose-to-nose collided with a German patrol. Snatched the gun from the captain was unable to do any of the 1st shot. The only thing that failed, until it is knocked down, trampled boots and beaten with rifle butts, so it rip heroic star, put it in his mouth so clench your teeth stronger. Neither the first nor the following interrogations, like any zealous executioners, he did not utter a sound.

After several weeks of detention in a field filtration fr "undecideds" together with other Russian prisoners of war were taken to a concentration camp, located on the territory of Poland. After two months Sitnov tried to flee. He was captured, beaten to a pulp. The new camp, new bad escape. And the trend in the blockhouse death at Auschwitz. After a while Valentin and several of his comrades were in Buchenwald.

Not broken in hell

Through this camp were 240 thousand prisoners from 33 countries of the world. 56 thousand were killed in the crematoria and "medical" labs. But even hell itself inside people found the strength within themselves vigorously resist fascism. In 1943, the Buchenwald scattered underground cells formed along ethnic lines, merged into the International Committee, which began to coordinate the actions of prisoners in the struggle for self-emancipation.

After the defeat at Stalingrad, the Nazis began to use the inmates of Buchenwald and other concentration camps at military facilities, replacing them mobilized an army of German workers. With factories in the camp at great risk to life disassembled rifles and carbines were delivered, which are then collected and stored in a safe hiding places, equipped with boiler room in the basement of the camp. Also, in small batches and ammunition were stolen. In utmost secrecy in the sweatshop was established creation of improvised hand grenades.

Go with the blank gun committee worked through a few options uprising, for the realization of which was a formation of battle groups. At the time of occurrence of the camp Valentine Sitnova there were 178. Along with other prisoners there were above 850 soldiers and officers of the Red Army. Captain associated with the underground since Auschwitz, entrusted the management of several groups which are one of the most difficult tasks — capture and hold the camp gates.

Protection of Buchenwald, accustomed to build their own "wards" dumb and submissive slaves, had to deal with organized and united armed force. Valentine and his men came in handy about 20 minutes for the destruction of the SS men who were at the gate. The release of Buchenwald took less than an hour. More than 21 thousand prisoners, including 914 kids, the youngest of which just four years old, were saved from destruction.

Only in the afternoon on April 13 Americans came to Buchenwald …

In June, 40 fifth Allies handed the captain Sitnova representatives of the Russian command. Checking the former prisoner does not take a long time in the military counter-intelligence: witnesses worthy behavior officer found plenty. Oh, and saved them in a Nazi prisoner of Golden Star has played no role. In August, Valentine, restored in rank and merit returned, stood in front of co-workers on long-range bomber regiment, which at the time was based on the location of Poland. Delight of his friends, not chayavshih already behold him in the middle of the living, there was no limit.

Autumn came, followed by winter. Almost here new, 1946 year. First post-war, really peaceful. And everything seemed to be behind us …

… From the report of a special department of H-sky Aviation Regiment: "In the evening, December 20, 1945 by a car, which delivered the flight crews from the airport in a residential town, bandit attack committed by Polish nationalists.
