JSC "Riemer" — oil field services management company CHEP division — has successfully completed testing of the monitoring of pipelines using its own unmanned aerial vehicle Chelpiper 75 in OAO "Gazprom Neft-NNG" reports Business-TASS referring to the company.
Built in Izhevsk unmanned flight mission fulfilled, having carried out the day and night infrared aerial photographs of the two sections of the pressure of the pipeline on the territory of the West and the November Kholmogorsky fields in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, during which they simulated and observed the different types of possible violations.
Were also performed demonstration flights of the machine with manual adjustment of the route and transfer the video mode on-line, which can be used when working in emergency situations or for monitoring the implementation of works on site.
"The transition to a new technology for monitoring pressure pipeline systems using the UAV can be justified not only because of cost-effectiveness in comparison to traditional helicopter patrol, detours or bypasses," — said the chief engineer, "Neft-NNG" Valery Chikin.
"We have the opportunity to create and maintain up to date database of information on violations of pipelines. Additionally, the use of photography in the infrared (thermal imaging survey) allows you to find minor violations of pipelines and to take corrective measures before the occurrence of serious accidents involving oil spills , "- he added.
Project leader Cyril Tsallagov noted that the unit can also be an effective tool for monitoring and controlling illegal connections to pipelines.
At present, specialists of "Gazprom Neft-NNG" and "Reamers" prepare the technical documentation for the project of commercial operation of the air pressure monitor pipelines.
