Judas — untold story traitor

Name Judas for every modern man is a household name — the so-called New Testament traitor by which the founder of Christianity was caught by the Romans and later executed.

And throughout the history of Christianity was branded as Judas hristoubiytsu. Although in reality we know about Judas is very, very little …

Judas in the Gospels is an incremental name Iscariot. In the Russian language is uniquely translates as Judas Iscariot, therefore Iscariot — is such a place or a city. But no Iscariot, as historians say, did not exist. The only town is suitable even in consonance — Krayot in Judea, but whether it is the birthplace of Judas — an open question. Other than the place of birth, the Jewish "-ish keriyot" can also be translated as "the husband of the suburbs" because "keriyot" — a suburb. So our Judas could not have come from an unknown Iscariot, but just out of the village near Jerusalem.

The official history

Also in the New Testament, except for Judas Iscariot, Judas is still Simonov. And some scientists believe that our Judas Iscariot — this is Judas Simonov. However, who is this Simon is as dark — or the father, or a brother.

One of Judas is certain: he was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus and part-time treasurer of this small community. This is where it becomes clear to Judas respectful use of "husband": the treasurer — a post responsible and so easy it was not given. We also know that Judas was thrifty and bad comments about useless or unnecessary spending, he knew the value of money.

Jesus' disciples hardly liked it, they rebuked him in avarice, and then the legend was born, and that Judas stole from the general treasury. Most likely, this is not true: the thief did not hold on to the position of Treasurer in the living Jesus. And the fact that he did not like extravagance, it is quite clear: the disciples were men of modest means, they were fed fees to charity.

The official story of Judas is very short. It is not known how and from where he came to the disciples of Jesus, we see at once his treasurer and even witness his accusations of Mary of Bethany profligacy when she anointed the feet of Jesus, peace for 300 denarii, which can feed the poor.

Another time, we impose Judas at the Last Supper, when they eat at the same table and dipped the bread in the common dish, and Jesus delivered his sacramental phrase that one of the students sitting at the table, it will deliver, and he's the one who with Jesus dipped the bread in the dish. Since all dipped, then total confusion reigned.

And Jesus said: if you have in mind to do it, do it faster. Supposedly Judas understood it and almost immediately went to betray. For the surrender of Jesus he received from the council 30 pieces of silver: the amount which has become a household name as the name of Judas. Then, when Jesus went to sleep on the Mount of Olives, Judas
brought back the Roman detachment and to point to Jesus, came up to him and kissed her. That kiss kiss Christians will be called a traitor.

The fate of Judas is ambiguous: in one version, he got the money for the betrayal and returned them, he repented of his deed, and then hanged himself, a friend — he got the money, they bought a field, which is called the potter's field, because they owned before the potter and whether he died from an accident, or hanged.

Since the first version was not associated with the purchase of the field, the Gospel texts is quickly corrected: the field to return money bought the members of the Sanhedrin and was used as a cemetery for pilgrims. But the death of Judas beautifully appointed: he stuck his head in the noose, the rope broke its weight (obviously, really, "husband" and man was strong), he fell and his insides fell out.
But everything in the story of Judas is extremely complicated.

Vague details

First, the amount itself is not clear in the 30 pieces of silver, it is not clear even though it was for the money. If there was a common sight in fine silver coin, which is calculated at the time of Jesus, 30 such coins to buy even a wretched field was impossible. If so-called Tyrian Tickle, then — alas! -Also impossible. So strange and field, and the cost of it too.

Secondly, Judas hanged himself on a tree (it was considered shameful death of the Jews). But on what? The New Testament in the Russian translation uniquely provides an aspen. And even states that after this feature appeared in aspen shiver from the experience of fear. But where aspens grow in Judea? Nowhere. Therefore, the role of Judas tree (and in the text, it was not an aspen, and Judas tree) Christians are different trees were selected on the basis of the domestic landscape — birch, elder, rowan, etc.

Thirdly, whether he hurt himself and "belly exposed, and he was swollen," or committed suicide. But if he died from the disease, it did not kill himself. If suicide — why bowels? Here is the death with bowels leads to another strange fact the case: it is under no damages may fall insides? But only in one case: if the body was ripped open from groin to throat, that is, if Judas was killed with a dagger and hanged, and then the rope broke!

But if Judas hanged himself? Or was hanged? Or neither one nor the other?

Non-canonical biography

According to the non-canonical version, Judah was born into the most unlucky day of the year — April 1, and before his birth mother saw a bad dream that this baby will ruin her family, so, without thinking, put the baby in the casket and threw them into the nearest river. Judas was killed and accurately performed prediction: he grew up on the island Kariofe (that's you and Kariof!), Returned home and, as a hero of Greek tragedy Oedipus killed his father and entered into an incestuous relationship with his mother. When the accident found that the sins he committed (without being guilty of this), then for thirty-three years, every day he went to the mountain with water in the mouth, and watered the dry stick there until she was covered with leaves. After that, he became a disciple of Jesus.

According to another legend, Judas and Jesus as a child were neighbors, and, as the boy was sickly, his mother took him to the little Jesus, which has already gone fame as a healer. Jesus began to heal Judah, to which the latter became angry and so nipped at his savior for his side, that of all the scar, and the place to which he was bitten by Judas, was the place where the Roman legionnaire drove his lance. But Judas was healed and became a disciple of Jesus, when he grew up. According to this version, Judas and did was the brother of Jesus, and very jealous of him. According to another version — jealous of Judah, Jesus and Judas was so fond of his brother that he was doing all the miracles, and purchased it for the glory of Jesus gave.

And according to the newfound Gospel of Judas, where about his life before he met Jesus did not say, Judah after the death of Jesus with them and did not kill the disease died.

Hidden Gospel

This gospel of Judas to be completely the wrong traitor and a scoundrel, what was for all Christians for two thousand years. Judas — quite sane man and a worthy disciple of his teacher. And what looks like a betrayal, it is not. Jesus reveals to him the most secret knowledge of the universe and the fate of mankind. That's it for Jesus — the most loyal and faithful disciple, and is charged with a terrible mission to betray his master, his destiny to come to pass, and to bring his human nature as a sacrifice to the Heavenly Father, and Judah takes this mission, knowing that he would remain for the followers of the new faith despicable traitor, because none of this order of Jesus, nor the fact the victim's descendants would not understand.

Jesus gave Judas enter the cloud heavenly glory, to see the star and fulfill his destiny. And Judas went to the cloud of glory and saw his star, he understood everything and went to the chief priests betrayed Jesus and took the money.

No wonder after a public reading of this apocryphal several high-ranking officials of the Vatican raised the question of the revision of attitudes toward Jews. However, besides restoring fairness to have slandered Judah, and they put other, more mundane task — justified Judas away with anti-Semitism. Indeed, one of the reasons for anti-Semitism — the prosecution of Jews by Christians in the fact that they have become Christ-.

The scientists were able to prove the authenticity of the "Gospel of Judas"

New research manuscript of "The Gospel of Judas" with the description of a previously unknown version of biblical events was the confirmation of the authenticity of the ancient text.

The Gospel of Judas was discovered by scientists in 2006. In the manuscript, written in the ancient Egyptian language, says that Judas was not a traitor to Christ, but on the contrary — his faithful ally in preparing for the resurrection of the Savior. According to this text, go to the authorities of Judas, Jesus himself asked, hoping for help that he will be provided with the ascension to heaven. In this version, no betrayal, or about 30 srebreniki not mentioned.

In order to determine the authenticity of the text of a group of U.S. scientists led by Joseph Baraboi of Illinois analyzed the ink with which the Gospel says, comparing them with the ink on the Egyptian marriage certificate, as well as documents for real estate, dating from the same period.

In those days, the Egyptians used ink that previously were the special treatment that actually allowed experts to prove — not later gospel fake. And despite the fact that the document is fragmented, its authenticity is not in doubt.

Baraboi specializes in authenticating ancient documents, as well as art objects. They often help the FBI identify a fake painting.
