Kolomna plant goes to mass production of electric EP2K

Qualification Commission recommended that the JSC "Kolomna Plant" OJSC ("BB", is a member of ZAO "Transmashholding") to begin mass production of single-cell electric passenger DC EP2K.
At a meeting of the Qualification Commission, it was noted that currently 87 passenger DC electric EP2K mounting series operated in the West Siberian and October railways where confirmed the high performance, availability factor of electric EP2K is 0.97. Representatives who took custody noted comfortable working conditions for locomotive drivers, train drivers reduced fatigue due to the excellent driving characteristics of the locomotive.
Recall that the work of a team of Kolomna plant to build a new passenger electric DC EP2K started by OAO "Russian Railways" at the end of 2003. The Program of JSC "Russian Railways" creation passenger electric DC has become one of the priorities in the reform of the transport sector as a similar technique in Russia had been made, passenger electric DC bought in Czechoslovakia, the average age of operating locomotives was 30 years. EP2K designed to provide Russian Railways domestic passenger electric locomotives and replacement of Czechoslovak CS2 and CHS2T, compared to which a number of important technical advantages in engine power and traction characteristics.
In 2006-2007. electric EP2K was complex performance tests in the winter and summer climate. On the West-Siberian Railroad (depot Barabinsk) electric EP2K-001 was tested in winter conditions is sharply continental climate (heavy snow, wind, outdoor temperature down to minus 30 degrees). The base year operating mileage of electric EP2K-002 was the depot of St. Petersburg — Passenger Moscow (October Railway). Interdepartmental Commission estimates the electric EP2K on the test results of two locomotives and 001-EP2K EP2K-002, confirmed that the technical and operational characteristics EP2K technical specifications and recommended the construction of a mounting series.
By OAO "RZD" in the current year Kolomna plant will supply a total of 61 locomotive, 35 of them — electric EP2K.
