U.S. ground motion acceleration in Keene Valley

Massive landslide on Mount Little Porter in Keene Valley, moved because of heavy rainfall last week, continues to deform and displace the ground, destroying nearby homes, according to North Country Public Radio.

The disaster did not lead to the victims, but a half-dozen homes were threatened.

"82 acres of rocks and dirt are constantly moving," said Andrew Kozlowski, a geologist at the State Museum.

"Before, it was a few centimeters a day … Now, in some places the rate rose to a foot a day," he added.

A landslide has destroyed the country house belonging to the family Pam Makold.

Four acres of land with a property valued at more than $ 600,000 are now completely inoperable.

At least three homes were evacuated, others are under threat.
