Andrei Poczobut was born April 16, 1973 in the village of Berestovitsa, journalist, activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus.
He worked in Grodno newspaper "The Chase", "Day", "Local", "Glos z-over Neman", was a correspondent for the independent newspaper "Narodnaya Volya". He also served as chief editor of «Magazynu Polskiego na uchodzstwie» — St. Petersburg magazine.
With 2006 is a correspondent in Belarus, a major Polish newspaper "Gazeta Wyborcza".
He is a member of the Union of Poles in Belarus, favored independence Public Association from the authorities, but under Belarusian law. Holds the position of Chief Council of St. Petersburg, unrecognized by the Belarusian authorities.
He lives in Grodno, is married and has a daughter and a son.
For the socio-political and journalistic activity was repeatedly punished by fines and administrative arrests.
March 18, 2011 the Grodno oblast prosecutor's office against Andrei Poczobut criminal case for insulting the president of Belarus. April 6 Andrew Pochobut was arrested, when heading to Minsk to participate in the teleconference with representatives of the European Parliament. Originally was arrested for 72 hours, but was later taken into custody for two months. Against him was initiated another criminal case — for defamation of Alexander Lukashenko.
