In France, on July 2, an explosion occurred at a nuclear power transformer "Trikasten", located in the department of Drôme. It clarifies the online version of the newspaper Le Dauphine Libere, the incident happened on Saturday around 14:50 local time in the unit, which was previously stopped. Information about the victims of the explosion and the resulting destruction has yet been received.
The explosion occurred outside the nuclear zone, and therefore the emission of radiation of the question. At the scene, police and firefighters arrived, the reasons for the explosion of the transformer instance at the moment specified. According to the newspaper, as a result of the incident there was a fire, a plume of smoke from which was visible to the city of Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateaux.
Note that the accident at the nuclear power plant "Trikasten" already happened in 2008 and 2009. In particular, on November 5, 2009. incident occurred during refueling of the second reactor nuclear power plant.

Normal operation of nuclear power has not been restored so far, although the reactors out of service in March 2011.
In connection with a nuclear crisis in Japan, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, has proposed to conduct regular safety audits on all nuclear reactors in the world. In his view, the stress tests can be conducted for 12-18 months and should focus on extreme events such as earthquakes, tsunamis and floods.
