Housing for Russian Mistral will build a Baltic Shipyard

"Baltic shipbuilding plant" from St. Petersburg approved as a shipyard for the construction of buildings of two helicopter "Mistral", the correspondent of the newspaper VIEW in the northern capital.



On the eve of this information to representatives of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), is in charge of "Baltic shipbuilding plant", confirmed the French side in the face of STC France, told the newspaper VIEW on Friday at the company.

The French gave the Russians the final bill for the order of metal. And now the "Baltic shipbuilding plant" holds tender procedure to select a supplier of metal for future construction.



According to the plan on June 1 Russian plant should be transferred to the working papers of the project, scheduled for August 1 start cutting steel for the first of the "Mistral" and the laying of the first ship is scheduled for October 1. In May 2013, is expected to start cutting already for the second "Mistral".

According to the newspaper VIEW, in mid-March, the Board of Eurasian Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) decided to July 1, 2014 for two years to cancel the import duty on vertoletonosnye landing ships "Mistral".



"The adoption of the decision to optimize the amount of public funds to finance the costs of the state defense order," — noted in the report of ECE.

Recall, the contract for the supply of two helicopter carriers "Mistral" for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Rosoboronexport" and the French company DCNS signed in June 2011. United Shipbuilding Company has been involved in this transaction as a subcontractor: it will build 24 housing unit (rear part of both ships), accounting for 40% of their cases. The blocks will be sent to France, where the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire will complete assembly of helicopter.



According to unofficial data, the cost of one ship is about 600 million euros.

February 1, 2012 the head of the Russian Navy Vladimir Vysotsky said that the first helicopter carrier "Mistral" entered service fleet in 36 months.
